Annecy is one of those places where animation seems to breathe in every corner. Each year, the festival becomes a unique meeting point for artists, directors, musicians, and enthusiasts from all over the world. Being there, especially during the closing night, always carries something special — but this time it felt even more meaningful.

The short film “Bambi Meets Godzilla: New Legacy”, directed by Lucio Brollo (known as Sandro Cleuzo), a true living legend of international animation, was selected by the jury to be screened during the festival’s closing evening.

For me, it was a significant moment: I had the privilege of composing the score for the film, supporting a story that reinterprets a historic animation cult with irony and intelligence, while preserving its original spirit and bringing it into a new dimension.

I still clearly remember the atmosphere in the theatre. The anticipation, the darkness, and then the first images on the screen. From that moment on, everything became rhythm, energy, reaction. The audience’s laughter came naturally, followed by sincere applause, almost marking the most humorous and surprising moments of the film. A living response, immediate, filling the room with a real connection between film and audience.

In those moments, I felt the most rewarding aspect of this work: seeing music not only accompany images, but become part of a shared emotion.

Leaving the theatre, Annecy was still vibrating with the same energy: encounters, conversations, and silent exchanges between colleagues that often say more than words. It is in these moments that you are reminded why you do this work.
